Will They Grow? Day 1

Yet another experiment, for science. I decided to try to grow some plants and flowers inside. So I put them in the basement where it's not to cold, and painted the room yellow (like the sun). The whole idea came to me after buying a compact fluorescent Daylight light bulb. This light is really not usable for normal lighting because the light is so blue it makes any room look like puke. Yes, exactly. But it's very bright (supposedly its luminance is equal to that of a normal 100+ watt bulb, but it only consumes something like 23 watts of power, awesome) so I thought maybe I could grow stuff under it. I installed a digital timer light switch so the light stays on for 18 hours a day then shuts off. I was concerned that the light may be to high away from the plants, which is why I decided to keep it on for 18 hours, maybe the extended time will make up for the distance. But anyway, today is officially day 1. Nothing yet. But I remain optimistic.

Looks like a nice setup.
Not sure what / if anything I'm going to plant this year. I just don't get enough sun in the yard.

My grandpa starts all his plants. I'll have to ask him what his on/off light ratio is.
